Durham Jordan, ranked 2nd in the state, came to Raleigh Tuesday and got away with a close 2-1 victory over the 4th ranked Capitals. The Broughton defense frustrated the potent Jordan offense until the 43rd minute when Jordan's Teddy Mullin was fouled by the Caps in the penalty box. Mullin scored on the resulting penalty kick giving Jordan an early lead.
Mullin extended the lead in the 65th minute by breaking away from a midfield tackle and placing a nice shot low and away from the Caps keeper Matt Franciosi. The Caps were able to move through the Jordan midfield and was rewarded in the 70th minute when Lassiter Tollison bent a 25 yard free kick over the wall and into the goal.
Although the Caps were able to make several good attacks in the final 20 minutes, they were unable to score again. Jordan record improves to 3-0 while the Caps fall to 2-1.
