Soccer: Caps beat Enloe 3-1, meets WF-R Tuesday at 7pm

The Broughton men's soccer team defeated Enloe in the first round of the Cap 8 tournament. Solid play throughout the game allowed the Caps to control play through most of the match.

Scoring began early when Forrest Lasso headed a ball into the box and AJ Iiames redirected toward the goal. The Enloe keeper tried to stop the ball, but Brian Haines redirected the ball into the back of net.

Within 10 minutes, Enloe won a corner kick. Enloe's Hoffman put a nice ball on the near post. In an attempt to clear the ball, a Broughton player redirected the ball into his own goal to tie the game.

The Caps seemed to slow down after the own goal, losing their energy and shape they had used so well earlier in the match.

The second half the Caps picked it back up. Six minutes into the half, AJ Iiames made a nice goal, energizing the home team. The final goal for the Caps was scored by John Pace, who broke free in front of the goal about 18 yards out and ripped a beautiful shot past the Enloe keeper.

The victory is the sixth straight for Broughton. The Caps host Wake Forest - Rolesville at 7pm Tuesday in the semi-final match. Leesville plays Sanderson at Broughton at 5pm Tuesday in the other semi-final match. Come out and support the streaking Capitals!!
