Men’s Swim Team Dominates
At a quad meet held Tuesday November 30, 2010, the Broughton Men’s swim team defeated Athens Drive, Wakefield, and Corinth Holder. Leading the way for the CAPS was Senior Kevin Rogers who set a new school record in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:44.52 which broke Graeme Leiser’s record from 1993. Kevin also won the 500 freestyle and wowed the crowd with his 21.35 split in the 200 free relay bringing the team from behind to win the event by less than 1/10 of a second.
Sophomore Brandon Hodnett also had a great night winning both the 50 free with a time of 24.16 and the 100 free with a time of 54.76.
Winning members of the 200 free relay included Rogers, Hodnett, Alex Haugh and Will Close.
Sophomore Peter Daniel and Juniors Johnson Beasley, Freddie Bosse and Davis Weaver, each recorded impressive times in their events.
The team’s next meet will be Tuesday December 7, against Enloe, Apex, and Heritage. The meet will be held at the Triangle Aquatic Center in Cary at 7:00 p.m. Admission is free.
