Best Win for Lady CapsLax This Season, Holding Off Enloe, 14 vs. 13

The odds were against the Lady CapsLax last Thursday night, 3/24, for seven players were missing, largely due to school field trips, or injury. The girls played conference rival Enloe, which is a senior-oriented team whose core players demonstrated commitment to extensive fall ball training. Coach Alexander and Coach Duncan knew they would have turn to non-starters for important contributions this game and they responded. Of particular note, the defense held Enloe to only 3 goals in the 1st half. After a furious 2nd half rally, the defense held onto the lead for the Lady CapsLax, particularly in the closing minute when they shut down a furious scramble and attempts to get the tying score. A special shout-out goes to junior goalie Faith Kelly who recorded a career high 12 saves. On offense, it was another balanced production lead by senior co-captains Paulina Escobar (5 goals & 1 assist) and Sarah Stidham (3 goals). Rounding out the scoring were freshman Kelsey Dupere (4 goals & 2 assists) and sophomore Madeline Crone (3 goals) and Mary Katherine Fagan (1 assist). The final score was a nail bitter, 14 vs. 13. It was a total team effort the entire game. Coach Alexander said it best, “…I am so proud of the heart and soul that shined through last night’s game. Of course, the win in itself is great; however, I am most proud of the hustle and team effort that shined through last night’s win.”
