With three games to be played in the same week the Caps needed a strong start which they delivered. They began last Monday night with a home game where they took on conference foe Sanderson. The Caps played well in closing out the match 2 - 0 for their first conference win of the season.
Wednesday night the Lady Caps were at Leesville Road. This conference rivalry always yields a hard fought match by both sides and Wednesday night did not disappoint. Leesville Road struck first and took a 1 – 0 lead into half time. The match was evenly played throughout the second half with both teams having scoring opportunities. With only a minute left in regulation, the Caps Lucia Stein-Montalvo took a free kick from 30 yards out that bounced over the Leesville keepers head to tie the score at 1 – 1 sending the game into overtime. Leesville came out strong and scored three minutes in to take a 2 – 1 lead that proved to be the game winner.
The Lady Caps were back in action again Thursday night to take on Pine Crest in a non-conference home game. Broughton came out strong in the first half with two goals from Clay Weaver coming at the 35 minute and 12 minute marks and Caroline Brown scoring at the 18 minute mark to take a 3 – 0 lead at the half. The second half proved to be more challenging as the effects of Wednesday nights overtime game started to show. Pine Crest was able to score two goals in the second half but the Lady Capitals held on for a 3 – 2 win.
Next up this week are Enloe at home Monday and Wake Forest away on Wednesday.
