CapsLax Dominate 1st Round Playoff Game Against Wakefield

The Broughton CapsLax program recorded its 1st playoff win ever against Wakefield, 7 vs. 2. As has been known to Broughton insiders all season, the strength of this year’s CapsLax team is its defense. Last Friday night was no different, except that it was even better. Top to bottom, the CapsLax defense was the best it has been all season. For example, at one point late into the 1st period, Wakefield didn’t even have a shot on goal.

This was perhaps the team’s best all-around game all season dating back to the season opener against Chapel Hill. Special recognition goes out to Harrison Black and Wilson Purcell. Wilson was dominant on face-offs the entire game, ensuring a huge time of possession advantage for our CapsLax. Meanwhile Harrison exemplified the type of team play that is critical during the playoffs. On one particular sequence, Harrison stripped the offensive player of both the ball and his stick, easily won the ground ball, started a rapid transition, then found Coleman Whyte in full stride. Coleman proceeded to push the unsettled situation, then found Sonny Creech deep in the corner who unleashed a hard upper-90 that the Wakefield goalie never saw. That sequence was absolute perfection and serves as the game’s featured highlight.

On offense, the final score does not fully indicate the total dominance our CapsLax team displayed throughout the game. If it weren’t for outstanding play by the Wakefield goalie, the winning margin would have been much larger, possibly double digits. Mitchell Dupere lead all scorers with 3 goals (and 3 pipes), followed by Dane Angell, Carl Churchill, Sam Cramer and Sonny Creech with 1 goal apiece. Each of these goals were worthy of highlight film consideration, they were that exciting. Now Broughton advances to the 2nd round of the state playoffs to play a quality Hoggard team in Wilmington next Tuesday night, 5/3.

JV Lady Caps Soccer Finish With a 2-0 Flourish

The JV Lady Caps ended there season with convincing wins and showed how they had matured as a team. On Monday, they exacted revenge on the team from Wake Forest-Rolesville, who had defeated them earlier in the season. Lena Wallace powered in the first goal off a crossing assist from Tess Ramsey. This was followed by another quick score when Tess Ramsey snuck one by the goalie. Wake Forest was unable to make any serious impact on a strong Cap defense, with another great effort by goalie Savannah Reid. The Caps scoring ended with a great shot by Annika Meulink, finishing off the Wake Forest team by a score of 3-0. For the final game of the season, the team faced a noble but struggling team from Heritage, and quickly took charge. Lena Wallace made the first goal with a powerful crossing shot that got an assist from a hapless Heritage player. Liz Brown quickly followed with another. With quick thinking and a great shot, Devyn Vining kicked in the third. As the shooting fest continued, Tessa Jones finished off the first half scoring. In the second half, the Caps team took it easy on their opponants, but showed some great ball passing, finishing off Heritage 4-0. The team has shown great inprovement, both in offense and defense over the season and all involved should be very proud of their efforts.

Playoff on Saturday for Tennis Team CAP-8 title.

It is a confusing time at the end of the tennis season but there are three different tennis high school state tournaments beginning this week. There is the "Dual Team" Tennis State Tournament and the Individual "Singles" State tournament and the Individual "Doubles" team state tournament.
First is the “Dual Team” tennis tournament. Broughton (16-1)and Millbrook tied the regular season for first place in the CAP-8 tennis conference. They split regular season matches with Broughton losing the first match at 4-5 on a controversial call and won the second at 6-3.
Now they will have a playoff (just like last year) for the CAP-8 title championship and the coveted #1 seed in the State tournament beginning on Monday. Broughton and Millbrook will play this Saturday,April 30, at 10:00AM at a neutral site (Enloe High School). It is Jr./Sr. prom night on Saturday night so there will be plenty of distractions but we wanted to have a good turnout to help push our boys through.
There are also two other state tournaments going on in the” individuals”. You can choose to either play in singles (2 players) or doubles (2 teams). You cannot play both. Alex Waddell and Staats Battle are representing Broughton in singles. Steed Johnson/Patrick Longest and Carlton Bunn/Alex Pollock will represent Broughton in the doubles competition. Earlier this week, Broughton lost the “individual” Cap -8 tournament title in singles and doubles to Millbrook. However all six Broughton players qualify to advance to the Individual singles and Individual doubles Regionals next Friday and Saturday, May 6-7, at Millbrook Exchange.
Coach White has asked to rally some Broughton fan support for the Broughton/ Millbrook Playoff title match at 10:00AM on this Saturday,April 30,at a neutral site (Enloe High School). Millbrook will show up with a big crowd and will be wearing black shirts, black shorts and black socks. It will be some great high school tennis. It will be a war…..always is with Millbrook……..

Men's Golf - Last Conference Match @ TPC Wakefield; State Playoffs

The Men's golf team played the final conference match this past Tuesday at TPC Wakefield course. The Caps finished 3rd in Tuesday's Match, but finished up the season in a solid 2nd place! Cyrus Stewart led the Caps scoring with a one over 36, followed by George Kilgore with a solid 38. After the match, the Cap-8 All- Conference team was announced, which consist of the Top 10 players in the Conference - determined by their scoring average. Broughton had 3 members of the team to make All-Conference, led by Cyrus Stewart (36.50 average) at number 3 in the conference, and followed by Chris Harmon (8th- 37.33) and Bill Marlowe (9th-37.50).
George Kilgore also finished in the Top 10, but fell short on "matches required" due to an early season injury.

The team is hard at work this week getting ready for the Regional State Tournament which will be held at the Duke University course this coming Monday, May 2nd. The tournament will be an 18-hole match. The top 3 teams in the Regional, determined by overall team score, will advance to the State Finals on May 9 and 10th at Pinehurst #6 course. The State Tournament will be a 36-hole event. The Caps, although not extremely deep, appear to be playing very well going into the playoffs !! Come out and show your support if you get a chance !! Go Caps !!

jvCapsLax withstand rally to win in overtime

On Tuesday night, the jvCapsLax team withstood a furious rally by Wakefield to win 7-6 in overtime. The Caps first team had one of their better efforts of the season moving the ball, winning faceoffs, getting ground balls, and playing tough defense. Of the 7 goals scored, 5 were assisted. The Caps had a comfortable 6-3 lead with 2 mins left in the fourth quarter, only to give up 3 quick goals by Wakefield to end regulation in a 6-6 tie. With an assist by Davis Weaver, Cameron Gilchrist nailed the winning goal in sudden death overtime with a bounce shot from the top of the box.
Freshman Davis Weaver led the scoring with 3 goals and 2 assists. Freshman Max Hardin scored 2 goals and added one assist. Freshman Cameron Gilchrist added 2 assists to go with his game winning goal. Sophomore Adam Matheis finished out the scoring with 1 goal. The Caps ended their successful season with a 7-2 record. Way to go Caps!

CapsLax Gut Out An Ugly 4 vs. 3 Win At Wakefield

The Broughton Varsity CapsLax team finally worked out the kinks in the 2nd half to win 4 vs. 3 against a stubborn Wakefield opponent last Tuesday evening, 4/27, for the last game of the regular season. The win was not pretty, just another gritty performance by the defense lead by junior goalie A. Johnston who recorded at least 6 saves on the night, holding Wakefield to just 3 goals, all assisted on either EMO or unsettled situations. Additional credit should go to all of the long pole defenders who played well throughout the game, creating turnovers, winning ground balls, and generally keeping Wakefield outside the crease all evening except for the 3 goals. On offense, however, the CapsLax struggled all evening with imprecise passing, uncharacteristic turnovers, shots off frame, no assists, and inconsistent execution in general. The long spring break without either games or practices was evident.

The CapsLax finish the 2011 regular season at 11-5, best in the program’s history. In those 5 losses, the opponent’s combined records was 77-8 for an impressive 90.5% average win percentage. This season can be summed up that this CapsLax team won all of the games they were supposed to win, yet played competitively but did not win any of the close games against the state’s (and south’s) better programs when it mattered most. Now the second season begins. Broughton hosts a 1st round playoff game at home this Friday evening, 4/29, against an unknown opponent. This CapsLax team and its strong senior class have an opportunity to take the program to the next level—advancing deep into the NCHSAA playoffs.

JV Ladies Soccer Goes 1-1-1

The week began with a tremendous defensive effort against a dangerous Leesvillle team. The JV Caps were able to hold Leesville to a single goal, falling 0-1. On Wednesday, the Caps came back with a dominating performance against Enloe, with numerous close shots on goal and a smothering defense. A powerful crossing shot by Tess Ramsey proved to be the game winner, as the Caps finished with a 1-0 victory. Finally, on Thursday, the team once again faced the pesky team from Wakefield. Lena Wallace had another of her many goals of the season, putting the Caps up 1-0. Wakefield snuck in shortly thereafter, resulting in a tie, 1-1. The team will face Wake Forest-Rolesville at home on Monday, ready to avenge their earlier season loss.

Lady Caps Soccer Finishes Week 1-2

The Lady Caps started the week at home on Monday vs Leesville. The Caps came out strong taking a 1-0 lead with 35 left in the 1st half on a goal by Markie Studnicky. The Caps continued their strong play until 2 left in the half when Leesville tied the score 1-1. The Caps came out strong in the 2nd half scoring with 37 left on a goal by Kristin Cherry. Leesville then tied the score with 23 left and took the lead on the game winner with 10 left in the game.

The Caps bounced back strong on Wednesday at Enloe scoring early on a goal by Clay Weaver 3 minutes into the game. Clay scored again off a corner from Jessica Crowder with 25 left in the first. Enloe then broke through scoring their first and only goal with 17 left in the 1st. The Caps scored again with 11 left in the 2nd on a goal by Jessica Crowder to give the Caps a 3-1 win.

The Caps then took on Wakefield Thursday night. Despite a strong first half the Lady Caps suffered a 4-0 home loss.

CapsLax Handle Millbrook Again With Ease

The Varisty Boy's CapsLax handled Millbrook again with ease winning 11 vs. 2 away Wednesday evening, 4/13. Except for a better 1st period, this game was a mirror image of the 1st Millbrook game several weeks ago. Mitchell Dupere tied his career high scoring 6 goals with several being worthy of highlight film, including an overhand in full stride on a deep angled shot past the Millbrook goalie on an unsettled transition situation. Sonny Creech had another big night registering 3 goals and 1 assist. Just like in the first Millbrook game, it is always a fan favorite when a long pole scores—this time Wilson Purcell put one past the Millbrook goalie, bringing a roar from the Broughton faithful. Oliver Fleming rounded out the goal scoring, with Sam Cramer recording one assist. Austin Johnston had another great game both in the cage and on defensive clears, despite a rare own goal. Many of the clears pushed the ball forward quickly, which resulted in unsettled situations and transition goals. As has become usual and customary with this CapsLax team, the defense was dominant all evening lead by Harrison Black, Gray Johnson, Gray Gordon, Ruffin Jones, Kelton Jones, Rob Rader and others. Millbrook struggled all evening while on offensive thanks to another strong effort by the defense. Dane Angell, Michael Eades, Wilson Purcell and the other face off players dominated all evening winning nearly every faceoff. This game was another dominant team effort by the Broughton Varsity CapsLax team.

Lady CapsLax Win Tight Contest Against Middle Creek

The Lady CapsLax faced Middle Creek away on their senior night on Wednesday night, 4/13. Despite their losing record, Middle Creek is physical, big, experienced team dominated by seniors. Several of their players were planning on playing D2 college lacrosse. The game was tense, back and forth throughout with no team having more than a 3 goal lead, often less. None of Middle Creek’s goals registered an assist. Instead, their big, physically-imposing players backed down our defenders forcing one-on-one isolation matchups all game. To the Lady CapsLax credit, however, the defense was able to come up with important, timely stops when needed most late in the 2nd half.

Meanwhile the offense converted timely goals to keep Middle Creek playing catch up most of the 2nd half. A special shout out should go to K. Dupere who had her most proficient offensive game all season (6 goals, 3 assists). Other goals were recorded by A. Yankoglu and P. Escobar (3 goals each), C. Barbour (2 goals), and M.K. Fagan (1 goal), respectively. In addition, S. Stidham, C. Barbour, and P. Escobar all recorded one assist each. Special recognition should go to the Lady CapsLax midfield, and in particular A. Yankoglu, who worked hard to maintain our fair share of draw controls and ground balls because maintaining ball possession was the key factor in this game.

Eight Lady CapsLax Score in Big Win Over Millbrook

Eight different Lady CapsLax recorded offensive stats in a big 16 vs. 3 victory against conference rival Millbrook at home on Tuesday night, 4/12, in perhaps the most productive offensive display all season. Leading the way freshman K. Dupere (4 goals), junior A. Yankoglu (3 goals), seniors P. Escobar and S. Stidham (2 goals each), and sophomore C. Barbour (2 goals). Give a special shout out to C. Heath, B. Gates and S. Andrews who each scored their first goals of the season, respectively. Of particular importance, 7 of the 16 goals recorded an assist. Assists were recorded by P. Escobar (3), K. Dupere (2), followed by S. Stidham and G. Massarelli with 1 assist each. The entire defensive unit held Millbrook’s offense in check all evening lead by Faith Evans who had perhaps her best game all season in goal stopping more than several point-blank shots on goal.

Lady CapsLax Drop Close Game to Ranked Athens Drive

The Lady CapsLax played a much more competitive game against conference rival Athens Drive last Friday night, 4/08. A good crowd was on hand for senior night in what was the only varsity Girl's/Boy’s CapsLax double-header of the season. Seniors Paula Escobar and Heather McDougal were recognized during a ceremony after the game. (Note: A separate ceremony will be held for Sara Stidham and Charlotte Dubald who were not able to attend last Friday's recognition ceremony.)

In this Athens game, the Lady CapsLax entire defensive unit was stellar particularly in the 1st half. The score was 4 vs. 3 in favor of Athens at halftime, much different than the first outing earlier in the season. Athens broke open a tight game early in the 2nd half causing Broughton to play catch up the rest of the game which ended up in a loss by a respectable 8 vs. 12 score to the conference’s second ranked team. Overall this was a great game by the Lady CapsLax showing overall team effort, passion, and hustle consistently by the entire team. On offense, leading the Lady CapsLax scoring was freshman Kelsey Dupere (5 goals), senior Paula Escobar (2 goals), and sophomore Mary Katherine Fagan (1 goals). Alex Yankoglu added one assist on the evening.

jvCaps Lax Blank Wildcats

The jvCaps won at Millbrook 5-0 in a rain shortened game on Tuesday night, upping their record to 6-2. The Caps were led with another strong defensive effort by Sam Osmond, Spencer Horne, Jonathon Pharr, Reese Abee, Zach Sisson, and Lucas Jones. The defensive core kept the Wildcats from getting off many good shots. Goalie Trey Howard shut out all shots that did get past the defense. The offense had a good workman like effort led by Adam Mattheis with a hat trick (3 goals). Middie Sam Walter snagged his first goal of the season while big bro Pete was in town to see it! Ian Nabors continued his scoring streak with 1 goal and 1 assist. Davis Weaver added 1 assist. The Caps wrap up their successful season with a game at Wakefield on Tuesday April 26.

Big Crowd on Senior Night Celebrate A Complete Game

The Varsity Boy’s CapsLax were again dominant against an overmatched, although improved, Garner team last Friday night winning by a huge score of 14 vs. 2. Fifteen seniors were recognized on Senior Night before a large crowd. This is the most accomplished group of seniors ever within the Broughton Varsity Lacrosse program in terms of cumulative number of wins, but they know they are not finished yet with away games remaining against Conference #3 rivals Millbrook and Wakefield, followed by the start of the NCHSAA state playoffs.

As expected, the defense was stellar again, disrupting Garner on nearly every possession despite a Garner goal early in the 1st period on a man down situation. Although Garner had some quality athletes on the field, they simply lacked the stick skills to compete effectively against the strong Broughton defense. A. Johnston and A. Cole again turned away nearly every shot allowing only 2 goals on the evening.

Offensively, this game was another balanced scoring attack lead by seniors M. Dupere (5 goals) and S. Creech (3 goals) followed by D. Angell, S. Cramer, C. Churchill, M. Eades, O. Fleming, and C. Whyte with 1 goal apiece. For the third game in a row, the assist-to-goal ratio was 50% or better. Seven (7) assists were handed out by M. Dupere (3) followed by C. Churchill, S. Creech, J. Dixon and D. Pitts with one each.

Re-Cap of Varsity Softball Action

The Lady Caps had three games last week and came out on top in two of those games. They traveled to Athens Drive last Wednesday and lost a heart breaker in extra innings. The Caps lead the entire game 2-0 but gave up two runs in the bottom of the 7Th. The Cougars went on to win 3-2 in the 8Th inning. Apryl Olko (double, single), Garett Hedgepeth (two singles), Cole Bellamy (2 singles) and Gina Guzzo (single) all had hits for the Caps. Valerie Guzzo and Cole Bellamy each drove in a run and Gina Guzzo and Sarah Dodson scored for the Caps. On Thursday, the Caps hosted Millbrook at Pullen Park and avenged an earlier season loss, winning 7-0. Sarah Dodson, who was on the mound for Broughton and got the shutout while recording 4 strikeouts and only giving up 4 hits. Only three Millbrook players reached first base until the 7Th inning. Garett Hedgepeth continues to swing a hot bat, clobbering a double and two singles. Valerie Guzzo (triple, single), Katie Munger (2 singles), and Gina Guzzo also had hits for the Caps. Valerie Guzzo and Lela Rucker each scored twice while Apryl Olko, Morgan Buonpane, and Garett Hedgepeth scored once. Broughton recorded two double plays in this game. Apryl Olko caught a fly ball in left field and made an incredible throw to catcher Gina Guzzo to nail the runner tagging up from third. The other double play was made by third baseman Nicole Bellamy fielding a ground ball, then throwing over to Kristi Parker to get the first out at first base. Kristi then threw home to Guzzo as the runner on third tried unsuccessfully to slide into home plate. The Caps closed out the week with a very convincing win over rival Sanderson, 7-1, with Sarah Dodson recording the win. Apryl Olko (double, 2 singles), Katie Munger(3 singles) and Valerie Guzzo (two singles) led the hitting attack for Broughton. Gina Guzzo, Kristi Parker, Cole Bellamy, and Sarah Dodson all recorded singles. Katie Munger, Kristi Parker and Cole Bellamy all scored two runs while Apryl Olko scored one run. This week, the Lady Caps will travel to Leesville on Tuesday and Sanderson on Thursday. Both games start at 4 PM.

Thanks to BSU Reporters-more are needed!

As more fans of Broughton Sports find their way to the Broughton Sports Update, we have received more questions why some sports are not covered.  All of the reporters for the BSU are volunteers.  If a sport is not being covered well, either no one has volunteered to cover the sport or the volunteer has not been as faithful reporting as some of you would like.

We always need more stories and pictures, so if you have either, please let us know.  We'd love to have reporters and photographers for all of the sports.  It is a very simple process; as easy as writing an email.  Because parents are typically the most loyal attendees, so far they have proven to be the most reliable reporters.  However, students, athletes or friends all have the potential to do a great job!

Please email me if you are interested at BroughtonSports@gmail.com!  We're getting to the most exciting part of the season, so please do not hesitate.

And finally, a big thank you to all of the reporters who have volunteered!  You all do a great job keeping us informed!  At the bottom of each story, the contributor's name is listed.  If you see one of these people around school or at an event, please go out of your way to thank them for their time and effort!

Go Caps!

CapsLax Overpower Outmatched Southeast Raleigh

Once again the Varsity Boy's CapsLax overpowered a Southeast Raleigh team with a dominating defensive performance, winning on the road 20 vs. 0. A Johnson and A. Cole combined for a rare shutout in goal, coupled with another stellar defensive performance registered by the strong Broughton D-pole combination of G. Gordon, G. Johnson, H Black, and K. Jones. In addition, G. Johnson and H. Black each got on the offensive stat sheet recording an assist and goal, respectively. Aside from a few procedure penalties, the FOGO trio of W. Purcell, M. Eades, and D, Angell won the important faceoff battle, securing nearly every possession, particularly in the first half.

On the offensive side, give a shout out to J. Moore who had a career high 5-point game (3 goals; 2 assists), and to C. Gilchrist who after being promoted from the JV team went onto to record 2 points (1 goal; 1 assist) in his first varsity game. A special acknowledgement goes out to C. Robinson who notched his first goal of the season at the buzzer as time expired at halftime. Goal production was shared throughout the entire offense lead by M. Dupere (4), S. Varsity Boy's CapsLax Unleash Its Frustration on Enloe

After two disappointing, back-to-back losses last week against quality opponents, both ranked in the state’s top 5, the Broughton Varsity CapsLax team unleashed its frustration Tuesday night, 4/4, at home against Enloe winning 14 vs. 1. A. Johnston and his D-poles G. Gordon, H. Black, K Jones and G Johnson all had another rock-solid game, effectively eliminating Enloe from running any offensive sets all evening. In addition, the defense won what seemed to be nearly every ground ball and created many turnovers throughout the evening. The only goal by Enloe came late in the 4th period during open field transition otherwise Broughton would have recorded a shutout.

The balanced offense was lead by 5-point nights for seniors S. Creech (3 goals; 2 assists) and M. Dupere (4 goals; 1 assist), followed by senior M. Eades who tied a career high with 2 goals, including the first of the game. Additional goals were recorded by junior D. Angell, senior J. Burke, freshman J. Dixon, senior C. Whyte, and junior C. Harrell. Of particular note, 50% (7 of 14) of Broughton’s goals registered an assist, several of which should make the highlight film. For example, there was K. Jones creating a turnover while on defense, scooping up the ground ball, and going coast-to-coast to find attack S. Creech for a transition goal; C. Crouch upon receiving an open-field pass in transition then found C. Harrell crease side for a layup; D. Pitts using a crisp pass to M. Dupere for 12-yard sniper overhand from the right side on a EMO situation; and, C. Harrell making a beautiful feed to cutting midfielder J Burke who finished with a crowd-pleasing goal.

There is little room to rest for the CapsLax have to re-load this evening and go the road to cross-town rival SE Raleigh, game time @ 6:00 PM, weather permitting.

Men's Golf - 5th NC High School Invitational - Treyburn CC, Durham, NC

At yesterday's 5th Annual NC High School Invitational, Broughton's Mens Golf Team had a strong showing, coming in 3rd place in a field of 12 of the best teams in the State. Coach Anderson Marlowe had the following comments; "A VERY respectable finish on a VERY tough day in a VERY big tourney. VERY strong winds and fast greens made conditions tough today. Bill Marlowe led Broughton with a very fine 78 and a sixth place finish and George Kilgore followed that with a solid 80 and an 11th place finish. That is great scoring in these conditions. These are some of the best teams in the State and we played better than most." Below are the team scores, along with the Top 20 individual scores (with Ties). Broughton continues to show solid finishes and improvement as it approaches the second half of the season leading to Regional and State Playoffs.

Varsity Softball Blasts Heritage

The Varsity Softball team traveled to Heritage High School last Thursday and beat the Lady Huskies by a score of 14-5. The Caps picked up their second conference win for Coach Dorrian Stephens. Junior Sarah Dodson was the winning pitcher, striking out 5 batters while once again playing excellent defense for the Caps. Freshman Taylor Trigg came on to relieve Dodson in the 6Th and 7Th innings and struck out one batter. Offensively, the Lady Caps were led by hot hitting sophomore Garett Hedgepeth who went 4 for 5 for the afternoon. Garett scored 3 times and collected 2 RBIs. Sophomore Nicole Bellamy had 3 hits, scored 2 runs and had 3 RBIs while fellow sophomore Katie Munger had 2 doubles, scored 3 runs and had 2 RBIs. Adding to the sophomore attack was Valerie Guzzo who had 2 hits, 2 RBIs and scored once. Other team members collecting singles were Apryl Olko (2 RBIs), Morgan Buonpane, Kristi Parker, Lindsey Warren (1 RBI), Mary-Margaret Hertz and Taylor Harrington. Buonpane, Parker, Warren and Lela Rucker all scored a run for Broughton. The crowd came to their feet for the final out of the game when a Heritage player tried to score on a passed ball. Third baseman Nicole Bellamy and catcher Gina Guzzo made some solid throws back and forth to finally get the last out of the game as the Lady Husky tried unsuccessfully to dive into home. This week, the Varsity will be home on Tuesday with Sanderson, away on Wednesday at Athens Drive and home on Friday afternoon with Millbrook. All games start at 4 PM. Admission to the Broughton home games is free. Good Luck Lady Caps!

Girls JV Soccer Punishes Heritage But Is Defeated by Weather

It was a tough day for Heritage Monday, as they appeared defenseless against the Caps. Lena Wallace continued her scoring frenzy, starting the attack with two goals. Tess Ramsey quickly followed with a header into the goal, with an assist from Lia Slaton. The scoring continued with a goal from Averill Payne. Lia Slaton added another goal, completing a 5-0 blitz. Hopes ran high for a day of revenge on Wednesday against Wakefield, but weather will postpone that oppotunity. The Apex game on Thursday was also postponed, thanks to the arrival of more much needed rain.
