Boys Basketball - JV

The Broughton Jayvee Boys started the new year slowly as they lost the first game of 2012 at home on Tuesday night against Enloe. Broughton started quickly and held the lead through three quarters, but the Eagles tied the score at 43 with 4 minutes to go in the game, and pulled away for a 54-48 victory.

On Thursday night, Jan. 5th, Broughton traveled to Heritage High School in Wake Forest. Despite the fact that Heritage was much taller than the Caps, Broughton jumped out to an early 9-1 lead and led 13-8 at the end of the first quarter. Heritage started the second quarter with an 11-0 run and cut the Broughton lead to 25-21 by half time. Heritage had a strong third quarter and led 35-34 as the fourth quarter began.

With smart play and strong defense, Broughton captured the lead late in the game and held on to win 45-43. Roy McMillan, Will Minton and Brooks Palmer scored the last five points of the game to seal the win for Broughton.

Yoel Griffin scored 11 points to lead the Caps. Will Minton and Vonshae Lewis scored 10 each. Roy McMillan led Broughton in rebounds with 6.

Broughton's record is 8 wins and 4 losses.

We travel to Wakefield Monday night, January 9th, for a 7:00 game.
