JV Boys - Big Win against WF-R

Broughton travelled to Leesville on Tuesday night, January 24th and lost a close game to the Leesville Pride. Broughton played well in the first half and led by as much as 7 at one point and the score was tied at 35 at halftime. Leesville took an eight point lead early in the second half and led by three as the fourth quarter began. Broughton kept it close throughout the quarter and tied the game at 59 with 48 seconds left and again tied the score at 61 with 16 seconds remaining, but Leesville made a short jumper with 5 seconds to go to win the game 63-61.

Broughton had more fun at home on Thursday, January 26th, as they played Wake Forest-Rolesville for the second time this year. Earlier Wake Forest defeated Broughton, but this time it was a different story.

Broughton jumped out to a 15-8 lead in the first quarter, and scored the first 12 points of the second quarter to take a 27-8 lead and ended the half with a 14 point lead 34-20.

The Caps scored the first 10 points of the second half and led 44-24 with 4:00 minutes to go in the third quarter. Wake Forest had a run of their own and scored 11 straight before Jaison Spencer hit a free throw to end the third quarter with Broughton leading 45-33. The Caps maintained a lead of 10 points or more throughout the fourth quarter and won the game by 15; 68-53. It was a great team effort with lots of strong contributions. Eleven team members scored, led by Yoel Griffin with 8, Brooks Palmer with 10, and Jaison Spencer with 11.

The win - loss record is 11 - 6, and our JV Boys plan to finish strong with 4 games remaining.

Come support our JV Boys at Broughton Wed., Feb. 1 at 7:00. They will play at Enloe Mon., Jan. 30th at 5:30.
