Baseball: Coach Jones Starts New Chapter for Caps

With spring in the air it is that time of the year, baseball season.  BHS opens tryouts with 2 returning seniors and a strong crop of underclassmen.  The CAPS are poised to make another run at the State Playoffs and continue the winning tradition.

Coach Jones and the rest of the staff invites you to all of the games or to stop by practice anytime.

July 29, 2011 - repost from Broughton Baseball blog - http://broughtonbaseball.wordpress.com/

Broughton is honored to welcome Harry Jones as the new head coach for the varsity baseball team. Jones a ’78 graduate of Enloe and ’82 graduate of Duke University boasts 23 years of head coaching experience in Wake County.  From 1988-2006 he coached at Millbrook leading the program to 4 conference titles, 12 playoff appearances, 9 all state players, 25 collegiate student athletes, 4 professionals and 1 major league player.  From 2006-20011 Jones coached at the recently opened Panther Creek.  Even though the record was not impressive, Coach Jones was able to build a strong base program where baseball will flourish for years to come.

Coach Jones lives with his wife Melody of 18 years, son Jacob 17, daughter Kirby 14 and Hattie Bell, perhaps the smartest golden retriever ever born.

Coach Jones will be reuniting with Coach Newton for the first time since their 2004 American Legion state championship tournament run.

“I look forward to building on the Broughton traditions constructed by outstanding men.” Coach Harry Jones
