Caps drop one in Non-Conference Competition

The Caps competed Friday in The Neuse Invitational. Blessed with nearly ideal conditions, the Men’s Golf team was ready to take on some of the best teams in the state. But ready didn’t quite translate in this non-conference match-up at The Neuse in Clayton. Last year’s 4-A Runner up, Myers Park of Charlotte took the title going three under par with a 285 for the afternoon.

Each school brought five players to compete – the Caps Harrison Rhoades fired a beautiful round of 73, Preyer Fountain kept it up with a 74, Will Minton had a solid round of 75 and Stephen Saleeby shot a 77 to put the Caps in a nice position for the day. Broughton took the second place spot over Ardrey Kell – both teams finishing with a 299 – second place was determined by Court Settle’s 80 for the day.

The Caps are back to Conference competition on Monday as the Cap8 meet to compete at Raleigh’s North Ridge Country Club.
