Men's Golf Comes Out Swinging!

On a gray day in Buies Creek, NC – the Broughton Men’s Golf Team made themselves heard. Coaches Anderson Marlowe and Steve Smith were thrilled to bring home some hardware from their first outing of the season. The News & Observer missed the opportunity to highlight this talented team in their Spring Sports Preview but they’ll be no ignoring them now!
Fielding what was surely the youngest team, BHS shot for a combined score of 300 – top four scores are totaled and counted for each team. Court Settle (sophomore) led the Caps shooting par for the day with a round of 72, followed by Harrison Rhoades (freshman) with a 74, Will Minton (freshman) kept the talent on a roll with a 77, Preyer Fountain (freshman) teed it up with a broken toe to shoot a 77 for the day and Stephen Saleeby (freshman) rounded out the Caps starting five with a 79. On hand to begin the torch-passing process – Senior and Team Captain George Kilgore guided and encouraged the Caps to victory! Broughton shares the title of Keith Hills High School Kickoff Champions with Forestview High School of Gastonia, NC.
The Caps hit the course again on Tuesday, March 6that 3pm at Heritage Golf Club in Wake Forest, NC for a CAP 8 match. Come out and cheer on our Men's Golf Team - to quote an old PGA Tour ad - "these guys are good!"
