Round in the Rough

Apologies for the tardiness of the reporting....this BHS sports blogger has had trouble getting back into the swing of things after Spring Break! Plus - it's just more fun to report about our triumphs!

Nevertheless....the windy day and tough greens got the best of our Men's golf team at Wildwood Green on Monday. Wildwood is Leesville's home course and they came out firing - posting a 141 for the day with two players under par - besting our team total of 143. Even Harrison Rhoades' beautiful round of 34 couldn't save the Caps from a two stroke loss to the Pride on their own track.

In the CAP8 conference race we remain in first place....but just barely....we're hanging onto a 2.5 point lead over the Pride going into the last conference match on April 24th at Hedingham. The men will finish the regular season at Pinehurst #8 on April 25th in a non-conference challenge match. The invitation to come to Pinehurst for the day was issued by Pinecrest High School to Broughton and Leesville - a great warm up on the course set to host the State Championships!

You've got to finish strong - so here goes! The Caps boast five players in the CAP8 top ten for individual scoring - the most of any team in the conference: Harrison Rhoades in third, Preyer Fountain in fourth, Court Settle in fifth, George Kilgore in sixth and Will Minton in eighth, Stephen Saleeby is just barely outside in eleventh place & sure to play his way right back into the top ten on April 24th! Way to go guys! Now......think happy swing thoughts and bring home the conference title!

Next up - the Caps will take on Cardinal Gibbons in a non-conference match on April 18th at Raleigh Golf Association.
