Swingin' Into The Record Books!

On Tuesday, April 24th Broughton Men's Golf set a new standard of excellence.

Not only did the Caps bring home the CAP8 Conference Title for the first time in 3 years - we placed 6 players on the CAP8 all conference team! Coaches Marlowe, Smith and Elsaesser say they have never heard of that happening before & they know it hasn't happened since the conference became the CAP8 configuration it is now.

The ten players with the lowest average scores for the season are awarded the All-Conference Medal.

CAP8 All Conference Broughton Men's Golf Medalists are:
Harrison Rhoades (2), Preyer Fountain (3), Will Minton (4), Court Settle (5), Stephen Saleeby (6) and George Kilgore (7).

In the final conference match of the season - the Caps faced a tough Hedingham course filled with firm greens and high winds. Preyer Fountain led Broughton with a tourney medalist score of 35. Will Minton was right behind with a 36. Stephen Saleeby shot a 37 and Harrison Rhoades shot 38 for a score of 146. That was more than enough to seal the victory and secure the Conference Title!

With that box checked the team moves on to Regionals with a State Championship mind-set. They have achieved the first goal they set for themselves at the beginning of the season - now they have resolved to accomplish the final two. Come cheer them on May 8th at Raleigh Country Club as they swing toward their goals at Regionals.

Congratulate these players when you see them - they worked hard for these achievements - in both regular practice....and I would venture to guess...most of their spare time - they are elated to have done it for Broughton!

Golf is deceptively simple and endlessly complicated; it satisfies the soul and frustrates the intellect. It is at the same time rewarding and maddening - and it is without a doubt the greatest game mankind has ever invented.  Arnold Palmer
