On Their Way To The Final 18

Men's Golf teed it up at Pinehurst No. 8 for the first round of the 4A State Championships. Tom Fazio designed No. 8 as a tribute to Donald Ross and the course opened in 1996 - the track makes use of signature Ross features from slopes and swales to rolling greens and false fronts.  A tough test of golf on a sunny day with no wind - Pinehurst No. 8 can prove a daunting task in the wind and rain! But the Caps were up to the challenge - led by Stephen Saleeby who put up another extraordinary round of 67, Will Minton and George Kilgore shot a couple of splendid 73's, Court Settle kept it going with a 75, Harrison Rhoades finished the day with a 76, and Preyer Fountain closed it out for the Caps with a 78 for a team score of even par for the day at 288 - a 12 stroke advantage over their closest adversary.
So........going into day is the final round of their remarkable season......the Caps can almost see the flag in the distance - waiting for them to putt out and conquer their final goal - The State Championship.
Go low Caps, Go low - we're all cheering you on from Raleigh - ready to make space in that trophy case for some serious hardware.
