Softball Squads Split with Green Hope

Cary, NC  Wednesday, May 2nd both the JV and Varsity Softball team travelled to the far reaches of Wake County to take on the Green Hope Fighting Falcons.  The JV Caps lost to the Green Hope JV 16-0 in 5 ½ innings.

The Varsity Caps, however, took to the 90 degree heat and outlasted the Fighting Falcons 7 to 2.  Freshman English Dean pitched the complete game.  Scoring runs for the Caps were Garett Hedgepeth and Katie Munger in the 1st;  Sarah Dodson and Morgan Buonpane in the 2nd;  Cole Bellamy and Val Guzzo in the 4th; with Munger adding a final run in the 7th.  The Varsity Caps had nine hits with only one strikeout, and played solid defense to include a 6-4-3 double play to end the 3rd, Munger to Buonpane to Kristi Parker.  Val Guzzo scored an inside the park run on several throwing errors by the Falcons in the 4th, also scoring Bellamy in the process.

The Caps take on Wakefield on Friday in an away game.  Start time is 4:00.
