Women's Tennis: Five BHS Players Advance to Individual State Finals

The Lady Caps had a strong showing at the Regional Individual Tournament this weekend.

Ashley Ramsay lost in the round of 16 against Panther Creek's Orla Labiche 6-1, 6-3.

Junior Maggie Kane advanced to the semi-finals where she beat Panther Creek's Megan Smith 6-0, 4-0. Megan retired in the second set due to an injury. Maggie then went on to beat Wakefield's Suzanne Boyden in the finals, 7-5, 6-0.

Adrienne Overcash/Kara Summerford lost in the semi-finals to eventual champions Smith/Strickland from Panther Creek, 6-3, 6-2.

Kelsey Boole/Olivia King lost in the semi-finals in two tough tiebreaker sets against Millbrook's Lauren McCorquodale/Savannah Taranto, 7-6, 7-6.

The two BHS doubles teams had to play each other for the #3 and #4 seeds in the state tournament next weekend. In a turnaround from last week's match, Adrienne and Kara beat Kelsey and Olivia in a hard fought three-setter. Final score: 6-0, 4-6, 6-4.

Maggie, Adrienne, Kara, Kelsey, and Olivia will advance to the Individual State tournament next weekend.

The Caps will host New Hanover on Tuesday at 3:30 in the Dual Team District round. This will be our last home match, so please come out and support the Caps!
