Varsity Lady Caps beat Southern Durham and Head to Green Hope Friday for Sectional Finals

Varsity Lady Caps came in playing strong and never looked back to defeat Southern Durham 89-66. They play Green Hope at Green Hope Friday night at 7 pm. Please come support the Lady Caps as they strive to get to the State Championship Game!

Basketball: Boys win, play Friday at BHS

BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM REACHES SECTIONAL FINALS. THE TEAM DEFEATED LEESVILLE FOR 4TH TIME THIS SEASON 76-60 TO SET UP SHOWDOWN WITH APEX FRIDAY NIGHT. THE GAME WILL BE PLAYED AT BROUGHTON AT 7:00 PM.

Broughton Baseball Opens 2013 Season

Broughton Baseball opens their 2013 season on Thursday, February 28.  The Varsity hosts the Garner Trojans at 4 while the JV travels to face Garner on their home field.  Wiley Warren Field has never looked better!  Come out on Thursday to see our beautiful facility, visit the concession stand and enjoy some great baseball! 

Coach Harry Jones enters his second season as Head Coach.  He is assisted by Chris Newton and Harold Kelly.  Nick Luhm coaches our JV team and is assisted by Ted Cashion.

The Varsity is led by Seniors Maclin Batchelor, Joe Bialkowski, Howard Boone, Jahvae Giddens, Jacob Kriegsman, Chris Schrum, Steven Thornhill, Austin Walker and Wilson White.  Our Junior players are John Baldwin, Rob Case, Eric Collins, Ben Eller, Jared Feeny, Collin Rotchford, Ben Sawyer, Daniel Wheeless and Jackson Williams.  Dom Ford and John Woods, both sophomores, complete the 2013 team.

Basketball: Boys & Girls Advance to Round 2

(from N&O story) RALEIGH — It took a while, but Broughton’s girls picked up the intensity level in time to pull away from Northern Durham in the second half for a 57-33 win in the first round of the N.C. 4A high school basketball playoffs.

The Lady Caps (22-5) will go to Southern Durham in the second round for a 7pm game.

The Broughton boys beat Enloe 80-66 to advance to a second round home game against Cap Eight rival Leesville Road on Wednesday night at 7pm...

Varsity Lady Caps Play Hard But Lose In Finals of Cap 8 Tournament

The Varsity Lady Caps played Millbrook tonight in the finals and lost 52-64. Megan Sullivan, Jamella Foster and Nicole Bellamy were selected honorable mention all conference team. Kaila Ealey, Nadine Ealey and Justice Byrd were selected all conference team.









 The State Playoffs start next week. Please come cheer on the Lady Caps.

Varsity Lady Caps Head To Finals Of Cap 8 Tournament Friday Night





The Lady Caps beat Wakefield 72-55 in the semi finals tonight. We play Millbrook in the finals Friday February 22 at 5:30 pm at Broughton. Please come support the Lady Caps and cheer them on to become the Tournament Champions!

Varsity Lady Caps Beat Heritage 58-44 Next Game Semi-Finals

The Lady Caps won the first round of the Cap 8 Confrence by beating Heritage Tuesday night. Semi-Finals Wednesday night February 20, 2013, against Wakefield at 7 pm at Broughton. Please come support the Lady Caps as the strive to be the Cap 8 Conference Champions.

Varsity Lady Caps end Regular Season play with a Win

Varsity Lady Caps Beat Sanderson tonight 73-55. Cap 8 tournament starts next Tuesday at Broughton.

JV Lady Caps End Victorious 15-1 Season!

Thursday evening your JV Lady Caps soundly defeated Sanderson High School 74-27, bringing an end to their very solid season.  These ladies were 15-1 in regular season play and 12-1 in the Cap 8 conference. The JV Women held Sanderson to zero points in the first 4.5 minutes of the game.  The ladies continued to play their signature tough defense and passed the ball well, allowing for multiple scorers.  Leading the night were Jessica Johnston-10; Katie Wadsworth-10; Jessica Willettes-10.  Other box scores: Brittney Smith-9; Sallie Allen-8; Emma Willard-8; Addie Yancey-8; Lizzie Mann-6; O'Shaela Wilkins-Peebles-3; Lexi Batchelor-2.

Senior night and Varsity Lady Caps Beat Wakefield 57-44

The Seniors had a great start in their last home season game against Wakefield.  The Lady Caps played tough winning all quarters to take the win against Wakefield to secure 2nd place in the Cap 8 conference. Kaila Ealey and Senior, Kimberly Spruill, were players of the game on Maxpreps. JV Women Down Wakefield in Only Meeting of the Season, 53-38

Because of a previously cancelled game, Monday night was the only meeting this season between Wakefield and Broughton.  The Lady Caps had a tough first quarter, but went on a 23-4 run in the second quarter to end the first half ahead 28-15.  Team captain, Addie Yancey, put forth a great effort with 3 three-point baskets and a total of  19 points on the night.  Other scorers:  Brittney Smith-11; Jessica Johnston-8; Jessica Willettes-8 and at least 5 blocked shots; Katie Wadsworth-7.  It was a tough battle but one that helped prepare the JV Lady Caps for their last game of the season.

Current standings:  14-1 on season; 11-1 in conference play.

Varsity Lady Caps Beat Heritage Next Stop Wakefield and Senior Night

The Varsity Lady Caps played at Heritage tonight and won 71-42. Nadine Ealey was selected Player of the Game on Maxpreps. State Swimming Championships

Broughton swimmers performed well at the NC State Swimming Championships February 7.  All 5 swimmers made it through the morning qualifying rounds into the finals in the evening.  Will Close represented the men and took 6th in the 100 butterfly.  The women took 15th in the 200 Medley Relay and 8th in the 200 Freestyle Relay while setting a new team record of 1:40.52.  The women  on both relays were Rachel Shaw, Elisabeth Holmes, Adaira Brewer and Kelsey Moore.  Elisabeth took 16th in the 200 IM and 11th in the 500 freestyle.  Kelsey took 3rd in the 200 freestyle and 6th in the 500 freestyle.  The women finished in 13th place overall and the men finished in 32nd place overall.

Broughton JV Women Over Heritage, 65-36

Wednesday, the Broughton JV Women came out strong and started the game with a 7 point run.  As usual, the ladies were relentless with their pressure defense.  Team energy continues to mount as the JV Caps' 13-1 winning season winds down.  Jessica Johnston was the inside ticket to points against Heritage, scoring 13.   Coach Willard rotated a number of lineups allowing a variety of offensive opportunities.  Other scorers for the night:  Katie Wadsworth-9; Addie Yancey-9; Brittney Smith-7; Amelia Rustin-6; Emma Willard-6; O'Shaela Wilkins-Peebles-5; Josie Rouse-4; Sallie Allen-2; Eliza Taylor-2; Jessica Willettes-2.

The team remains tied with Millbrook first first place in the Cap 8 with a 10-1 conference record. The team travels to Heritage for a Friday night game.

Last week Broughton Lady Caps lost to Millbrook on Thursday night but won on Friday night against   Wake Forest Rolesville.
The Lady Caps won again tonight against Enloe.
They play at Heritage Friday night at 530 pm

JV Lady Caps Score a Season High 72 Points!

Monday, the Broughton JV Women had their highest scoring game of the season as they dominated the Enloe Eagles, 72-21.  The Lady Caps trademark defense just kept creating opportunites for steals and points off of turnovers by the Eagles.  Broughton had one of the largest and most energetic crowds these Lady Caps have seen to date.  Katie Wadsworth led Broughton with 16 points.  Other scorers for the night included:  Brittney Smith-11; Eliza Taylor-9; Jessica Willettes-8; O'Shaela Wilkins-Peebles-7; Jessica Johnston-6; Lizzie Mann-4; Emma Willard-4; Addie Yancey-4; Amelia Rustin-2; Daisy King-1.

Swimmers Set Records in Regionals

The Lady Caps Swimming and Diving team had many great performances as they finished 7th at the NC Eastern Regional Swimming and Diving Championships held this weekend.    The medley relay of Rachel Shaw, Elisabeth Holmes, Kelsey Moore, and Adaira Brewer took 6th, the 200 freestyle relay with the same girls took 4th with a new school record of 1:40.65.  The 400 freestyle relay of Brewer, Shaw, Sarah Wills, and Rachael Wills took 15th.  Kelsey Moore took 1st place in the 200 freestyle with a new school record of 1:51.83.  She also took 3rd in the 500 freestyle.  Elisabeth Holmes took 8th in both the 200 IM and the 500 freestyle.  Adaira Brewer took 18th in the 50 freestyle, Rachael Wills took 23rd in the breaststroke, and Angela Duncan took 11th in diving.
The men’s team finished 14th in the same meet.  The medley relay of Alex Haugh, John Paul Baric, Crandall Close, and Nick Chomette finished in 19th.  The 200 freestyle relay of Brandon Hodnett, Bancks Holmes, Alex Haugh, and Will Close finished 11th, and the 400 freestyle relay of Hodnett, Holmes, Haugh and W. Close finished 10th.  Bancks  Holmes took 17th in the 200 freestyle and 10th in the 500 freestyle.  Alex Haugh took 20th in the IM.  Will Close took 15th in the IM and 3rd in the butterfly.  Brandon Hodnett took 12th in the 50 freestyle and 9th in the 100 freestyle.  William Sally took 13th in diving.
Any swimmer or diver who placed in the top 8 qualifies for the state championship to be held this coming Thursday at the Triangle Aquatic Center in Cary.
Congratulations CAPS on some super swims and good luck in the state meet!
