The Broughton Varsity Volleyball Team had a fantastic week with victories over Millbrook and Sanderson. The Raleigh News and Observer had published their Triangle rankings and Broughton was firmly placed in the top 10 at #8. The Lady Caps faced a sizeable opponent and #6 in the N&O rankings, in Millbrook Tuesday night. After a shaky first set where the girls were easily defeated 25-13, they turned things around and found themselves outplaying Millbrook on all aspects of the game. They won the next three sets, 25-15, 25-12, and 25-18. The team amassed a phenomenal 18 aces, 41 kills and 62 digs in that match to remain undefeated in conference and hand Millbrook their first conference loss.
Thursday's match brought visiting Sanderson to Holliday Gym, filled with cheering Broughton fans! The Lady Caps did not disappoint and defeated Sanderson in straight sets, 25-21, 25-12, and 25-16.
The Broughton Varsity Volleyball team is now 6-0 in conference and 10-1-1 overall. Thanks to our loyal fans who come to all home and even away matches to cheer us on.
Next week brings on a tough opponent in Wakefield (at Wakefield, Tues. Sept. 17), also 6-0 in conference, both teams battling for that coveted first place spot in Cap 8 standings. This will round out the first half of the season. The Lady Caps will also be travelling to Enloe on Thursday to begin the second half of conference play.
The Broughton Varsity Volleyball team will return home the following week for three home matches, Tues., September 24 - Thur, September 26. Mark your calendars to come out and cheer the Lady Caps on!!!!!
