The Lady Caps had a successful showing in the first round of the State Championships on Saturday when South Central HS from Greenville came to Holliday Gym to play. The girls overcame some inconsistencies in the first set to win 25-20, however in the second, set some late hitting and defensive errors allowed South Central to capture the set 25-22. The Lady Caps came back strong in the third and jumped out to a 6-0 lead and never looked back. South Central managed to squeeze out 6 points at the end of the set, but the Lady Caps had a commanding lead and won 25-12. The fourth set started with South Central taking an early 6-1 lead and maintaining that lead until at 9-19 the girls decided it was time to play and limit their errors. They finished the match 16-3 and won by a final score of 25-22.
