Soccer: Season Ends With Loss at Pinecrest

Broughton's season came to an end Saturday night when the Caps lost to Pinecrest in the second round of the state playoffs.

Playing at times in a pouring rain, the Caps played aggressively throughout the game. But despite repeated shots, including a few that hit the cross bar, Broughton was unable to get on the scoreboard against the second-seeded Pinecrest team.

Pinecrest scored in the game's final three minutes, after Broughton had pulled a defender to strengthen its offensive attack, to make the final score 0-3.

We'd like to send a shout-out to the team's seniors, who helped lead the Caps back into the state playoffs, and to the many parents, siblings and friends who made the trip to Southern Pines to support the team. Great season, Caps!
