The Broughton women's soccer team concluded its regular season with a hard-fought, well-deserved victory over 11th ranked Millbrook.  The Caps started the fixture strong and it was not long before sophomore Emma Willard found the back of the net in the 7th minute to put the Caps on top.  The Wildcats would not concede and kept firing shots from all angles at junior goalkeeper Allie Cutler.  The player of the game though would be the goal post, as it deflected two Millbrook efforts in the 18th and 27th minutes.  The battle continued in the second half with Cutler making a spectacular save of a near goal line shot in the 45th minute.  Cutler gave the Caps supporters a scare late in the second half when she slid for ball and a Millbrook player kicked her in the mouth.  The player received a yellow card for the foul, but may have deserved a red in this humble blogger's opinion.  Cutler's return only strengthened the Caps resolve and they carried the lead to the final whistle.  Broughton finishes the 2014 campaign 8-8-1, 6-7-1 in Cap 8 and awaits a decision on whether it will qualify for the NCHSAA 4-A tournament as the fifth team from Cap 8.
