Soccer: Caps score big win in Rocky Mount

Broughton earned its third straight non-conference win to start the season with a 5-0 road win Monday night at Rocky Mount High School.

Bryant O'Neal
Many of the usual starters played limited minutes as the Caps dominated play throughout the game, with several shots that just missed or forced the Rocky Mount keeper to make saves. Broughton keepers Frankie Stallings and Benjamin McCord only had to make a couple of saves to earn the first shutout of the season for the Caps.

Junior Bryant O'Neal got on the scoreboard first about eight minutes into the half when he slid a pass from junior Ike Drooz past the Rocky Mount keeper. About a minute later, sophomore Abdulle Ibrahim scored his second goal of the young season when he took a pass from senior Peter Winter and sent it just inside the near post from the left side of the field.

Junior C Badweh added another Broughton goal when he scored about midway through the first half by lofting a pass from junior Niko Hacklaender over the outstretched hand of the Rocky Mount keeper. The score was 3-0 in Broughton's favor at halftime.

C Badweh
Badweh scored again just four minutes into the second half off an assist from junior Nicolas Mizero. Junior Ibrahim Mohamud was credited with the final goal late in the game - his second of the season - off of an assist from senior Eli White.

A big shout out to the several parents and friends who made the trip to Rocky Mount to cheer on the Caps.

Broughton doesn't play again until Wednesday, Sept. 3, when they take on Clayton in a non-conference match at home.
