The game was a back-and-forth affair for much of the first half, but the Caps exploded for three goals in the final eight minutes of the half to take control of the contest. Senior Brandon Gettinger scored two of the goals and narrowly missed a chance for a hat trick when he had a third scoring opportunity.

The second goal came about four minutes later, when Gettinger raced the Millbrook keeper to a pass from junior Abdulle Ibrahim. Gettinger slid and managed to get a foot on the ball just before the keeper got to it, pushing the ball into the goal to give the Caps a 2-0 lead.
With less than a minute remaining in the half, junior Jesse Dean finished off a pass from junior Ike Drooz to make the score 3-0 at the half.
Coach Nick Wheeler was able to clear his bench in the second half as Broughton held off a series of attacks by Millbrook. The visiting Wildcats finally managed to get a ball in the net with about four minutes remaining in the game, but the goal was voided by an offsides call.
Keepers Trey Morton, Frankie Stallings and Benjamin McCord combined to earn the shutout. Hyu A, playing the entire game at center back, made several late defensive stops to help keep Millbrook off the scoreboard.
Earlier, Broughton's junior varsity team scored a 1-0 victory over Millbrook.
The Caps have a quick turnaround before their next game, traveling to Enloe for another conference game on Thursday night.
