Broughton Women’s swim coach, Richard Dubois got his 100th career victory in Women’s swimming this week as the Lady Caps defeated Sanderson and Wakefield while losing to Heritage in an exciting meet that came down to the last event. The Caps were in 3rd place, losing to Sanderson by 1 point going into the 400 freestyle relay, but a strong showing by both the A and B relays pushed the Caps to a 7 point victory over the Spartans. Leading the Caps were Carson Harvey with a victory in the 50 freestyle and a second in the 100 freestyle. Alexandra Smalto dropped 1 second in the 100 breaststroke while taking second place. Also swimming well were Genna Brewer, who took 1 second off her 200 free time; Helen Semenova, who took 4 seconds off her 200 IM; Addie Wilson who took 1 second off her 100 free; and Emma Wilson, who took 1 second off her 100 free.
The Caps’ next meet is the conference championship on Saturday, January 31, at the Triangle Aquatic Center in Cary at 8:00 AM. The admission fee for spectators is $6.00.
