The Broughton Caps women's soccer team improved to 7-1 (5-1 Cap 8) Monday night with a decisive 3-1 result against the visiting Heritage Huskies.  The Caps opened the scoring in the 12th minute when junior Julia Stevens found the back of the net with an assist by fellow junior Sarah Grace Lasso.  Seven minutes later, another junior, Kelly Ann Evans, added to her account after making a well-timed run down the center of the pitch to receive a beautiful cross from the right flank from junior Emma Willard who had run down a searching ball from Lasso.  The Caps almost had a third goal in the 37th minute, when sophomore Savannah Jones unleashed a shot, but the Huskies goal keeper made the save.  Eight minutes in to the second half Heritage collected one back from the Caps on one of the few shots that have made it by senior goal keeper Allie Cutler this campaign.  Unfortunately for the visitors the Caps were not finished.  Willard received a pass from junior Lily Schneider at the midfield circle and after settling the ball with her chest, danced with it around the Heritage defense before dribbling at the Huskies keeper to score the final goal of the match in the 67th minute.  The Caps gas up the bus for the short ride to Wake Forest High School on Wednesday. As always, the junior varsity kicks off at 4:30 with the varsity to follow  against the Cougars at 6:30.
