The Broughton Caps opened up the 2015 Cap 8 soccer season with a convincing 5-2 victory over the visiting Wake Forest Cougars. Senior Sheenaymu Badweh led Broughton with 2 goals on the night, in a match that was more lopsided than the score would indicate. Badweh opened the scoring in the 2nd minute, sneaking a goal through a scrum past a screened Wake Forest keeper. Abdulle Ibrahim scored six minutes later, after receiving a beautiful, and unselfish, cross from Ibrahim Mohamud. Elvis Wiredu nearly scored off a self-volleyed bicycle kick, but the Cougar keeper was in the perfect spot for the save.
Badweh tallied his second goal of the night in the 49th minute with a well-placed header served from freshman Lucas Beeson. Ibrahim Mohamud made it a four-goal lead a minute later, scoring off an assist from Gray Gwaltney. Wake Forest did not even get a shot on goal until the 63rd minute, but unfortunately, that shot found the back of the net. Elvis Wiredu got the lead back to four goals when he scored three minutes later, with Beeson getting his second assist of the night. Wiredu was a pain in Wake Forest's backside all night, and his hard work finally paid off. Wake Forest scored with two minutes remaining to make the final 5-2.
