Volleyball Sweeps Leesville Road, Hosts Cardinal Gibbons on Saturday (4pm)

Broughton (22-0) defeated fellow Cap-8 member Leesville Road 27-25, 25-13, 25-22 on Thursday night to advance to Saturday's 4A state quarterfinals.  Kalee Vanderhorst pounded out a match-high 20 kills (.357) and Katja Ehlers tallied 13 kills (.455), a match-high 3 aces and 7 digs. Tiana Butler added 6 kills, 4 blocks, 2 aces and 3 digs and Kati Smith posted a match-high 38 assists, 2 blocks and 7 digs.  Holli Smith had a team-high 15 digs and Alden Willis picked up 8 digs.  Grace Youngblood recorded 2 blocks and Rachel Byrd chipped in 1 kill and 1 block.

Sydney Wilson led The Pride (18-3) with 9 kills and Meghan Gasper handed out 27 assists.

Broughton will host Pac-6 champion Cardinal Gibbons (17-3) on Saturday at 4pm.
