The Broughton Girls’ lacrosse team lost a hard fought game by a goal, 11-10, at reigning state champion Apex Monday night.
Coach Jen Yoder’s Caps challenged Apex the entire game, never trailing by more than three goals, and had a chance to tie the game as time expired. Hattie Warner had four goals for Broughton, Margaret Anne Warner and true freshman EJ Fuller had two apiece, and Farrell Guest and Carol Seigler contributed one each. Carson Harvey in goal continues to lead an improved defense.
This is the second time this season, including a narrow loss to Wakefield three weeks ago, that Broughton has lost by a goal to one of the state’s top teams.
The Caps resume play Wednesday night at home at 6:30 p.m. against conference rival Wakefield.
