The Broughton Girls’ lacrosse team scored with 53 seconds left in the game to defeat last year’s conference champs Wakefield Tuesday night at home.
The Caps took a 6-5 lead into halftime, and scored five quick goals to open an 11-6 lead early in the second half. At that point, Wakefield rallied to tie the game with 2:12 left. At 0:53 Farrell Guest fired a perfect pass to Carol Seigler who scored the game winning goal.
The Caps defense, including Reed Proctor, Marcy Waters, Greer Eckard, Lily DiCaprio, Anneka Pace and goalie Carson Harvey, was outstanding against a very strong Wakefield team.
On offense the Caps were led by Hattie Warner and Carol Seigler with four goals each, followed by Farrell Guest with three and Sydney Russell, Leaha Renee Burgess and EJ Fuller with one each.
The Caps resume play Friday night at home at 6:30 p.m. against Millbrook.
