Broughton Mens Tennis beats Leesville Road 6-3 featuring three third-set tiebreakers and a Caps doubles sweep

The Caps Men's Tennis team fought a tough battle at home last week and outlasted Leesville 6-3 in a Cap 8 matchup that featured some really tight matches.  At #1 singles, Blaise Waters won the first set 6-4 but had to go into a tiebreaker in the second set to finish off his opponent 7-6(5).  Yates Kline whipped his opponent in the second set (6-2) after losing the first (2-6) but ultimately fell in a third set tiebreaker at the #2 spot.  Makie Michaux, playing at #3 singles, won a close match that featured a second set tiebreak followed up by a third set tiebreaker which Makie won 10-7.  After all the other singles matches had been completed, Lucius Harvin gutted out another big win for the Caps at #4 singles when he came from behind after losing the first set (4-6) to outlast his Pride opponent 6-2 in the second set and then winning the match 10-7 in yet another third set tiebreaker.

That left the teams split 3-3 going into the doubles matches.  Waters teamed up with Will Beasley to take the #1 doubles match in a back and forth slugfest 9-7.  Michaux and Harvin also won a tight match at #2 doubles 9-7.  Kline and Sammy Brock finished out the doubles sweep with a 8-6 win at #3 doubles.

The Caps host Sanderson on Tuesday afternoon in another big Cap 8 matchup.
