Caps handle Comets (and their PA Announcer) 5-0

In a game that was dominated by both the play of the Caps on the field - as well as the commentary of the home field PA Announcer - Broughton dominated the possession and defeated Clayton 5-0.

Broughton opened their account with Freshman Edson Candela-Perez finished a pass from Donovan Nicholson to make it 1-0 just five minutes into the match (his fourth goal in five games).  The next goal was pretty as Andrew Rossetti lofted a corner kick to the far post and Senior Jacob Hill rose high above the defenders to head it home for 2-0.  Edson returned the favor to Donovan and the Junior finished the play to make it 3-0.  With only a few minutes left before halftime, Senior Graham Gunter converted a PK and it was 4-0 at half.

The only person not impressed with the Caps in the first half was the Clayton PA Announcer - and he let everyone know about it. (You had to be there - it was amazingly good)

The second half saw Broughton play possession and the only score was a PK by Sophomore Andrew Rossetti - also his third goal in three games.  Senior Luis Hernandez had several excellent chances as did Junior Alexis Santos and Junior Erik Johnsen.

Junior Clay Oxford and Sophomore Ryan Meredith did well on the few chances they faced and that same back line of Esteban Salinas-Noyola, Lex Varani, Caleb Adams, Ewan Reynolds, Duncan Coffey, Ivey O'Brien and Joe Ruslander held off all Clayton attacks.

Broughton plays another non-conference game on Thursday when they face Athens Drive @ Athens Drive before getting the next week off prior to their showdown with #3 Middle Creek on Saturday, September 10th.
