Caps Soccer Rebound from First Loss to Defeat Millbrook 4-2

In a sloppy, wet (and sometimes chippy) game on a rainy night, the #4 Broughton Caps (8-1-1) rebounded from their first loss of the year to defeat #3 Millbrook 4-2 and move back into a tie for the conference lead.

The Caps came out strong and Sophomore Lucas Beeson opened the Caps account with an early goal to put us up 1-0.  Sophomore Andrew Rossetti then coolly finished a nice pass from Senior Enrico Lalonga to give the Caps the 2-0 lead.  After that goal, Millbrook proved why they were the #3 team in the N&O Rankings and their pressure finally paid off to make the score 2-1.  Junior Clay Oxford made several huge saves and to keep them off the board until halftime.

The second half started much like the first and Andrew Rossetti scored what turned out to be the winning goal by deftly beating the keeper to make it 3-1.  Millbrook scored a great goal to make it 3-2 and only when Junior Donovan Nicholson rocketed a goal with 5 minutes left was the game sealed at 4-2.

Several Caps were injured during the game: Juniors Lex Varani and Cesar Gonzalez, Seniors Graham Gunter and Esteban Salinas-Noyola - all came out with injuries.

No rest for the boys as we play (weather permitting) Sanderson at home tonight with the Wake County Cup Final on Saturday.
