In a game marked by numerous goal line clearances and missed chances, Broughton suffered their first defeat of the season against last year's Cap-8 Champion Leesville Road by a score of 0-1.
The Caps started off strong and controlled the first 25 minutes of the game. The best rally saw a shot from Freshman Edson Candela-Perez stopped by the keeper, and then rebound shots from Sophomore's Andrew Rossetti and Lucas Beeson were cleared off the line from defenders before Junior Cesar Gonzalez had his shot fly just over the right crossbar.
Senior Abdulle Ibrahim also force the defenders into a goal line clearance before Leesville got the only shot on target in the first half in the back of the net to make it 0-1 at half.
The second half saw Leesville Road pack 5-6 players back and force the Caps to breakthrough their defense - which we couldn't do. Defenders Lex Varani, Jacob Hill, Esteban Salinas-Noyola, Duncan Coffey and Graham Gunter repelled every Leesville attack but it was not enough to tie/win.
It gets no easier for the boys as we play 1st place Millbrook and Sanderson during the week and then Green Hope Saturday night for the Wake County Cup.
