Broughton (13-1, 8-1) defeated Enloe 25-7, 25-7, 25-11 on Thursday night in Cap-8 play. The Capitals jumped to a 9-0 lead to begin the opening frame behind the strong serving of Claire Sawyer. A kill from Jade Demps capped off the set. The next two games featured similarly fast starts for Broughton. A Kalee Vanderhorst kill ended the second stanza and a block from Jasmin Bradshaw and Nan Parrish closed out the match.
Kalee Vanderhorst paced Broughton with 14 kills (.632), 4 aces, 2 blocks and 4 digs. Jade Demps tallied 12 kills (.786) and 2 aces and Nan Parrish pounded out 10 kills (.769). Claire Sawyer tallied 18 assists, Holli Smith added 6 assists and Sarah Brooks dished out 4 assists. Amber Russell chipped in 3 aces and 3 digs and Alden Willis picked up 6 digs.
The Caps travel to Heritage and Wake Forest next Tuesday and Thursday before returning home on October 11th to face Leesville Road. The final regular season match will be at home on the 17th against Sanderson. Broughton's seniors will be honored before that contest.
