Caps Shows Resiliency in a 2-1 Victory Against Wakefield

Losing by a goal with 13 minutes left in the match, the Caps (12-6-2, 6-5-1) showed their toughness and scored two goals to win 2-1 versus Wakefield.

The first half did not start as well as the Caps would have hoped and Wakefield had several early chances just miss the net. Broughton got back in the game with some chances from Andrew Rossetti, Donovan Nicholson and Harrison Lee, but could not capitalize and the score was 0-0 at halftime.

The second half started much as the first as the Caps couldn't find their footing and the game was tied 0-0 until Wakefield was awarded a sketchy PK which was converted to make it 0-1.

Senior Graham Gunter, MaxPreps POG, then scored two goals in five minutes: the first a flick off a free kick from Cesar Gonzalez and the second on a PK that was drawn by Edson Candela-Perez.  Broughton then held off the final few rallies from the Wolverines to win 2-1.

This was an important victory for Broughton as they have a chance to catch Heritage and possible Sanderson next week with two victories.  The first is Monday on versus Enloe at home.  It is Senior Night for the Caps - so please come out and support the team.
