Broughton got injury news before the game as Sophomore Lucas Beeson's ankle flared up in warmups and he had to sit out the match. He was joined by Senior Graham Gunter, who sustained a head injury early in the game and had to miss the remainder. Senior Joe Ruslander was already out with an injury suffered against Enloe.
However, Broughton showed their depth throughout the night and all 25 healthy players played in the game.
Back to the first half, Heritage took a 1-0 lead off a goal by Cap-8's leading scorer (Berk). That lead was short lived as Player of the Game Cesar Gonzalez played a free kick into the box to which Jacob Hill headed home to tie the game up. Heritage then scored again to take a 2-1 lead into halftime.
The Caps then came out after halftime and proceeded to dominate the final 40 minutes. Freshman Edson Candela-Perez scored five minutes into the second half to tie the game up for Broughton and not two minutes later - Cesar played a beautiful ball to Andrew Rossetti who coolly slotted home a left footed shot to give the Caps the lead for good 3-2.
The defense and midfield controlled the remainder of the game as Seniors Gray Gwaltney, Jacob Hill, Esteban Salinas-Noyola, Caleb Adams and Juniors Ewan Reynolds, Lex Varani and Sophomores Duncan Coffey and Ivey O'Brien kept Heritage from even getting a good shot in the second half.
And stated above, ALL 25 PLAYERS played and contributed to the all important victory.
The Caps now have a week and a half of rest and practice before the first round of playoffs - which start on Saturday, November 5th.
