The Broughton girls’ lacrosse team defeated Enloe 19-4 Friday night to complete a perfect 6-0 conference record and clinch the Cap-8 Conference title.
The Caps finished 11-2 overall and are ranked #6 in the state. Their season included wins over #4 Wakefield and #9 Chapel Hill. The team’s only two losses were by one goal in each game, first to Wakefield (in a non-conference game) and later to #5 Apex.
Coach Jen Yoder’s team enjoyed a strong defense, and an improved and balanced offense, this year.
On Friday night at Enloe, the Caps were led by Farrell Guest who scored five goals. Also scoring for Broughton were Carol Seigler (3), Hattie Warner (2), Sydney Russell (2), EJ Fuller (2), Marcy Waters, Wooten Joyce, Margaret Anne Warner, Katie Childrey and Britt Warner.
Broughton’s defense held Enloe to four goals, three of which came long after the game was decided.
