School Records Fall at Eastern Regional Swimming and Diving Championships

    The Broughton Men's and Women's swimming and diving teams swam and dove extremely well as the men took 4th in the region and the women took 9th.    New school records were set by Jack Messenger in the 50 free where he swam an All-American qualifying time; Holt Gray in diving; Carson Harvey, Alex Smalto, Genna Brewer, and Maria Baric in the 200 free relay; Maria Baric in the 100 breaststroke; and Richie Soltis, Smith Moran, David Washburn, and Jack Messenger in the 400 free relay.  Maria swam an All-American consideration time in the 50 free and Jack swam an All-American consideration time in the 100 free.  The team results are as follows:

200 Medley Relay: Grace Fine, Alex Smalto, Stella Kempf, and Carson Harvey – 12th
      Liam Lawless, Jeffrey Whittington, Zach Benson, and Richie Soltis – 15th
200 freestyle:  Genna Brewer – 17th
                          David Washburn 10th
200 IM: Alex Smalto – 17th, Grace Fine 23rd
             Smith Moran - 7th
50 freestlye: Maria Baric 3rd, Genna Brewer 8th, and Carson Harvey 27th
                      Jack Messenger – 1st
Diving: Annie Urish -  8th, Emily Urish -  9th
            Holt Gray – 1st, Bennett Butler  - 5th, Jacob Wells – 7th, and Kel McLester – 11th 
100 butterfly:  Zach Benson – 17th
100 freestyle: Jack Messenger – 1st
500 freestyle:  Stella Kempf – 12th
                          Smith Moran – 6th and David Washburn 9th
200 free relay: Carson Harvey, Alex Smalto, Genna Brewer, Maria Baric – 7th
                          Richie Soltis, Smih Moran, David Washburn, and Jack Messenger  9th
100 breaststroke:  Maria Baric 5th, Alex Smalto 20th
                                 Richie Soltis 14th, Jeffrey Whittington 21st
400 free relay: Carson Harvey, Stella Kempf, Genna Brewer, Maria Baric – 8th
                           Richie Soltis, Smith Moran, David Washburn, Jack Messenger – 4th

Those who placed 8th place or better will go on the State Championships next week.
