Caps Shut Out Huskies to Advance in Playoffs

The Broughton Girls Lacrosse team defeated Heritage 20-0 Thursday night at home to win their second round state playoff game.

The Caps defense, led by senior Carson Harvey in goal, did not allow a Heritage goal, producing the Caps' first shutout this season.  Broughton's defense also featured Marcy Waters, Reed Proctor, Anika Pace, Greer Eckard and Abigail Pugh.  Heritage is one of the better teams in conference, and played with intensity throughout the game, yet were unable to score against Broughton's outstanding defense.

On offense, the Caps were led by senior Carol Seigler with 6 goals, along with Addie Camak with four, Sydney Russell and Margaret Anne Warner with three each, EJ Fuller with two,  and Leaha Renee Burgess and Georgia Davis with one apiece.

Broughton advances to the third round on Tuesday May 9 at home against the winner of the Wakefield/East Chapel Hill contest.

Also of note for this team is that they are currently ranked by MaxPreps as having the highest GPA among all girls' lacrosse teams in North Carolina.  Congrats Caps!
