In a game where the #3 Caps (4-0, 0-0) found themselves down 0-2 after 20 minutes, the boys fought back and won in thrilling fashion 3-2 to stay undefeated for the season.
Broughton started the game on the back foot, and Wakefield capitalized with two well earned goals: the first a header directly off a long throw in (sound familiar) and then a header off a cross.
However, the team showed no panic and began to wear down the Wolverines and equalized with 8 minutes left on a Senior Erik Johnsen goal from Junior Ivey O'Brien cross to make the halftime score 1-2.
The second half was total domination for the Caps and there wasn't even a direct shot on goal for Wakefield. Juniors Andrew Rossetti and Lucas Beeson had multiple chances either saved by the GK, or just miss the post. Finally, the pressure paid off as Andrew Rossetti crossed the ball into Erik Johnsen - who headed it off the post and into the path of Ivey O'Brien for the tying score.
After many more shots by Andrew, Lucas and Freshman Omar Stallings, the Caps finally took the lead for good on a PK by Lucas Beeson.
A special shout out is in order for the Defense - who with the exception of two headers, shut Wakefield down: Seniors: Ewan Reynolds, Lex Varani, Juniors: Dante Oliva, Logan Hunter and Sophmore Jack Eubank.
The sign of a good team is to get a result when you don't play your best - so there is still much hope for the season. Next Game: Tuesday, September 5th at home versus Athens Drive. Have a great Labor Day Weekend and #skocaps!!

After a medical delay in being evaluated for a rolled ankle, Elizabeth toughed out the tiebreaker, losing 7-10. The Caps face rival Sanderson on the Tuesday after Labor Day and travel to Millbrook on Thursday. Come out and support our awesome Lady Caps Tennis Team!

Caps Downed in Doubles by Leesville Road
The Lady Caps fought a nailbiter today coming down to the last match against Leesville Road. Unfortunately, Leesville prevailed by 2 games and won the match 5-4. Juniors Becket Waters and Meg Hardesty and Freshman Trevlyn Roberts rocked the #1, 2 and 3 singles courts against the Lady Pride. Doubles wins just were not in the cards for the #1 and 2 courts for the Lady Caps today. Senior Elizabeth Bell and Sophomore Addie Camak dominated their counterparts in #3 doubles 8-0. The Caps are now 3-2 overall and 1-2 in the Cap 7A conference. In show of true sportsmanship, the Broughton Women consented to move the match from Thursday to Wednesday for new Cap 7A member Cardinal Gibbons. The match time is 4pm tomorrow for three consecutive matches in a row. Come out to give them support and cheer on the Lady Caps!

Women's Tennis Comes Up Short Against Enloe
The Broughton Lady Caps visited the Enloe Eagles where they fought a hard match but came up short 4-5. Broughton had great doubles play but it was not enough to overcome the loss of the #3, 4, 5, and 6 courts in singles. Freshman Trevlyn Roberts and Junior Katie Burroughs tried to pull out a win but were just shy of doing so. Juniors Becket Waters and Meg Hardesty played a dominant set winning 8-3. Senior Elizabeth Bell and Sophomore Addie Camak also played an awesome doubles game winning 8-2. As school starts next week, the Lady Caps will face Leesville Road at home on Tuesday and on Thursday will travel to new Cap 7A member Cardinal Gibbons for an away match.

#6 Caps Defeat Rolesville for Second Time
In a game that wasn't as close as the score would indicate, the Caps (3-0, 0-0) used a five goal first half to defeat the Rolesville Rams 5-1.
The Caps got off to a quick start as Junior John White scored two goals in the first ten minutes with the first being assisted by Junior Andrew Rossetti - to give Broughton a 2-0 lead.
Rolesville struck back with their only goal and shot of the half to make it 2-1.
Junior Andrew Rossetti then scored his first of two goals from a nice pass from Senior Ahmed Magoub to make it 3-1.
Freshman Omar Stallings was fouled in the box and Senior Cesar Gonzalez slotted home the PK to make it 4-1.
Andrew Rossetti finished off the scoring with a goal in the last minute from an assist from Senior Harrison Lee to close the half at 5-1.
The second half provided a lot of playing time for the entire team and many, many chances, but the score finished 5-1.
The Caps have a 9 day break and will travel up to Wakefield to play the former Cap-8 rival on Wednesday at 6P. Go Caps!

#8 Caps Defeat Apex 2-0 for 6 Point First Week
In a game that was tied at halftime, the Caps (2-0, 0-0) used tough defense, strong goalkeeping and timely goal in the second half to topple Apex 2-0.
Apex came out strong and dictated a lit of the early play in the first half. Senior Captain Clay Oxford made several good saves to keep the Cougars off the board. Chances started coming at the end of the half, as Senior Captain Jack Ashby played some great corner kicks into the box that Junior Bryce Meredith and Senior Ahmed Mahgoub headed at the Apex GK.
The second half was controlled by Broughton and for the second game in a row - Juniors Andrew Rossetti and Lucas Broughton (Captain) combined for a long throw-in goal to put the Caps up 1-0. That lead was doubled 20 minutes later as Andrew Rossetti took a pass from Senior Cesar Gonzalez and fired it past the Apex keep to make the score 2-0 and close the game out. (Thanks to Marc Ridel Creative for the picture below)
Broughton travels to Rolesville next Monday for their only game of the week. Looking forward to going to 3-0 and getting ready for former conference opponent Wakefield on the 30th. #skocaps

#8 Men's Soccer Wins Home Opener 9-3
It was a great way to open the season for the #8 ranked Broughton Capitals as they used goals from five different players to defeat Rolesville 9-3.
Broughton started quickly and took a 1-0 lead on a header from Junior Lucas Beeson directly off a long throw in into the box by Junior Andrew Rossetti. After Rolesville tied it up 2 minutes later, Broughton ran off four goals before halftime by Lucas Beeson (2), Senior Erik Johnsen, Junior John White and Freshman Omar Stallings. Assists to Senior Cesar Gonzalez, Juniors Duncan Coffey & Bryce Meredith along with Erik Johnsen.
The second half started much like the first with Erik Johnsen nabbing his second goal of the night (assist Senior Jack Ashby) right away, but Rolesville got one back on a PK that Sam Vhlapolous got his hand on.
After that Andrew Rossetti got his first goal (assist John White) and second goal (assist Junior Ivey O'Brien) of the season while Lucas Beeson completed his hat trick with a goal off a nice corner kick by Sophomore Jack Eubank.
The Caps play again on Wednesday against Apex at 4:30P for JV and 6:00P for Varsity. Please come out and support the team.

Football Teams See Purple and Gold
The Broughton JV and Varsity Football teams attended the Holly Springs Jamboree on Wednesday night. It was their first opportunity to line up and face players not on their own team. Holly Springs has the same colors and Broughton so seeing purple and gold on both sides of the ball looked like practice.
The scrimmages were an opportunity to run plays unlike during a typical game. Each team alternated 10 offensive possessions during a 40 minute running clock.
The Caps will attend another Jamboree on Saturday, August 12 at Southeast Raleigh High School. Though they don't face The Bulldogs, it will give the teams a chance to visit their home field. The varsity team will return on September 29 to play Southeast Raleigh as part of this season's new Cap-7 conference.
