Baseball: Fast Start Not Enough Against Wake Forest

Wake Forest, N.C.-  The Broughton Varsity Baseball Team got off to a hot start against Wake Forest on a cold Thursday night but could not sustain it as Wake Forest posted a barrage of hits to roll to a 13-3 victory over the Caps.

Broughton got things rolling in the Top of the 2nd Inning with a leadoff double by Junior Jon Benefield.  After Catcher Penn Sealey drew a  walk, Junior Robert Ramseur laced an RBI double to get the Caps off to a 1-0 start.  One batter later, Senior Kyle Ehlers lined another RBI double to score Sealey and Ramseur.  The Caps took an early 3-0 lead.

After Wake Forest lead off the bottom of the 3rd with a solo home run, the momentum appeared to shift and Wake Forest started an 11 hit parade, plating 13 runs and sinking the Caps.

2018 Overall Record 1-3
2018 Conference Record 0-0
