LADY CAPS TAKE DOWN MIDDLE CREEK IN 3RD ROUND LAX
THRILLER
What a game between the Caps and Mustangs. After losing to
Middle Creek in the first game of the year the Caps showed up when it mattered
most. Middle Creek had a quick start controlling the draw and taking 3-0 lead.
Emily Clark Joyner netted the Caps first goal with the Mustangs adding one more
before a Broughton time out. The Caps clearly settled down holding them
scoreless for the rest of the 1st half while cutting the lead to
4-3.
Carrying momentum and a halftime pickup speech from Coach
Yoder the Caps were ready starting the 2nd half. With Margaret Anne
Warner on the draw aided by Stella Smith and Ellen Young on the center circle
the Caps controlled the game going forward. Stella captured 7 draws in the game
and Ellen Young added 2. Addie Camak was UNSTOPPABLE, scoring 6 goals during
the game. She was helped by Margaret Anne with 3 assist. Bailey Burgess added 2
timely goals. With the Caps taking the lead for the first time at 7-6 they didn’t
let up. The lead climbed to 10-6 with a score from Molly Adkins. This gave
Broughton the room they needed. After 2 quick goals from Middle Creek, the Caps
started their version of the four corners. I’m not sure they had a Phil Ford but they got
the job done. The win would not have been possible without the consistent great
goalie play from Lauren Bryner.
With the win the Caps advance to the quarterfinals of the
State Tournament. Their next opponent will be East Chapel Hill High School.
East CH won a tight one with Topsail Island. This should be another great game
and the Girls need your support. This Friday 6:00 East Chapel Hill High School.
GO CAPS!!!!
